Divinely Appointed Phone Calls

Today I learned my close friend Earl departed for Heaven early this morning. He had endured a most challenging, long-term illness with much faith, optimism and courage.

Being prompted by the Holy Spirit to call him yesterday, Earl and I talked briefly by phone. He greeted me warmly yet in a very weakened state. During that time, even in his critical condition, we reaffirmed our brotherly love one for another.

Fortunately, I had been able to tell my mom the day before her sudden death just a few months ago that I loved her, not realizing that would be our last earthly conversation. We must never take a divine appointment for granted as it is a precious gift from God to us!

(Reader, should you wish to hear of my friendship with Earl, just blog back to my July 18, 2013 entry.)

About Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering

Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering shares the true story about a sudden family tragedy. As author of the book to be published in the summer of 2014, the true account tells of my sister being rear ended by a drunk driver. She barely survives the high speed crash being left to live as a quadriplegic. Written from a brother's perspective, the manuscript shares the heartfelt story of ongoing physical and emotional pain experienced by both victim and family. Only through God's grace can a family survive such a tragedy!
