Making the Effort

Last weekend Elaine and Don attended an in-town wedding of friends. Following the wedding, they drove to a downtown reception to honor the couple.  It was such a special time as many people, not seen in a long time, warmly greeted them.

Despite Don and Elaine’s great efforts to get ready, travel and attend the wedding and reception, they truly enjoyed the celebrations. Hearing Elaine’s descriptive account of the happy occasion greatly gladdened my heart.

Attending special events has quite a different feel as a quadriplegic. However, my sister, even in pain, made the effort to attend with the aid of her very supportive husband. Through multiple hardships, making sacrifices and extra efforts bring some normalcy even while living through severe disability.  Applause extended to Don and Elaine for making those extra efforts on behalf of others.

About Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering

Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering shares the true story about a sudden family tragedy. As author of the book to be published in the summer of 2014, the true account tells of my sister being rear ended by a drunk driver. She barely survives the high speed crash being left to live as a quadriplegic. Written from a brother's perspective, the manuscript shares the heartfelt story of ongoing physical and emotional pain experienced by both victim and family. Only through God's grace can a family survive such a tragedy!
