God’s Way to Comfort Another

A few weeks ago a close friend of mine, concerned for my sister’s paralysis, simply emailed me the name of an organization that specializes in aiding paralyzed individuals. Although my follow-up a bit slow, I called the suggested resource, on Elaine’s behalf, seeking additional information.

This week a kind representative from the Christopher Reeve Foundation called to give Elaine encouragement in her journey through quadriplegia. James, the foundation representative, also has lived as a quadriplegic. He offered Elaine both empathy and compassion through his gracious phone call.

At times God sends one who has experienced similar life circumstances to bring comfort and understanding to another. Although being Elaine’s brother and knowing her my entire life, I cannot put myself in her place to understand her life as a quadriplegic. Someone much better equipped for the task contacts her to offer needed support.

God has continued to amaze me!  He used my out-of-state friend to inform me of a resource. I called the resource, and God made a valuable connection.

It so reminds me of a simple verse from 2 Corinthians 7:6-“Nevertheless God who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus.” Lord, please put a timely Titus into our path especially when we need Your comfort!

About Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering

Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering shares the true story about a sudden family tragedy. As author of the book to be published in the summer of 2014, the true account tells of my sister being rear ended by a drunk driver. She barely survives the high speed crash being left to live as a quadriplegic. Written from a brother's perspective, the manuscript shares the heartfelt story of ongoing physical and emotional pain experienced by both victim and family. Only through God's grace can a family survive such a tragedy!
