Earl: My Encourager, My Friend

Today, my out of state, close friend and I shared together again about ongoing life issues over the phone. Once being an active, successful business contractor, Earl is now confined by illness to his home.  Although his mobility limited, Earl’s powerful spirit from God encourages, ministers and counsels many of us.

Earl often encourages those who help to care for him in his home. His similitudes and counsel have fed discouraged souls on a number of occasions in person, by email and phone. His spirit of encouragement has often watered my own dry, parched soul. Despite his own health concerns, Earl never complains; he witnesses and gives continual glory to Yeshua!

Really, it is all about perspective. Despite his physical limitations, Earl sees his cup of affliction overflowing with God’s love and grace. My spirit has been irrigated often after having phone koinonia (Greek word for communion as in fellowship) with Earl. No longer does he design and construct man-made edifices; he lovingly builds up and repairs spiritual foundations of the people he serves from an armchair.

Thank you, Earl, from all of us you bless with your transparency, grace, wisdom and hope. Brother, your more vital mission now imparts redesign and building of the eternal foundations rather than the temporal. Hallelujah!

Lord, please continue to use and bless my precious friend Earl and send more like him our way!

About Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering

Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering shares the true story about a sudden family tragedy. As author of the book to be published in the summer of 2014, the true account tells of my sister being rear ended by a drunk driver. She barely survives the high speed crash being left to live as a quadriplegic. Written from a brother's perspective, the manuscript shares the heartfelt story of ongoing physical and emotional pain experienced by both victim and family. Only through God's grace can a family survive such a tragedy!
