Refocusing Off Self

Today in visiting Elaine, one of her very faithful volunteers, Debbie arrived.  Debbie has been such a wonderful, regular sitter amongst so many others.

Having not seen her in a while, I asked how she was doing.  I had heard through Elaine that Debbie recently endured major surgery and the sudden death of a relative.

Debbie shared with us that life had been rough lately, yet her brilliant smile canvassed her face. We prayed together for her and her family as we asked for God’s comforting intervention through her many trials.  Seeing Debbie and her transparent yet hopeful countenance encouraged me.  For a short time it took our minds off ourselves and refocused us on another who needed our support as well.

Thank You, Lord, for granting us an opportunity to refocus and offer support to one of our own gracious supporters!

About Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering

Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering shares the true story about a sudden family tragedy. As author of the book to be published in the summer of 2014, the true account tells of my sister being rear ended by a drunk driver. She barely survives the high speed crash being left to live as a quadriplegic. Written from a brother's perspective, the manuscript shares the heartfelt story of ongoing physical and emotional pain experienced by both victim and family. Only through God's grace can a family survive such a tragedy!
