Lamentations 3:1-33

Yesterday in sharing with Elaine the Lamentations 3 passage, the prophetic word of Jeremiah came alive. The weeping prophet mourned for his nation in their turning away from God. He grieved over the punishment of his people. He painfully recounted how his prayers had been shut out, his body and spirit troubled and God-sent grief delivered.

Yet Jeremiah found hope in acknowledging God’s goodness and hope for those waiting quietly on Him. He shared how the Lord indeed caused grief-yet not willingly-amidst His repeated demonstrations of compassion new every morning.

As Elaine listened, tears welled up in her suffering eyes in recounting her own pain. Even in a day when suffering and pain have multiplied, how comforting for those in Christ to realize our citizenship here only temporary. For we have a higher citizenship in Heaven–a passport to no more tears and sorrow.  Hallelujah!

About Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering

Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering shares the true story about a sudden family tragedy. As author of the book to be published in the summer of 2014, the true account tells of my sister being rear ended by a drunk driver. She barely survives the high speed crash being left to live as a quadriplegic. Written from a brother's perspective, the manuscript shares the heartfelt story of ongoing physical and emotional pain experienced by both victim and family. Only through God's grace can a family survive such a tragedy!
