Graduation Day

Today Elaine and Don will attend the high school graduation of their youngest daughter. How things have changed in our family since my niece’s first day of school! Elaine will need to make many extra efforts to attend the graduation breakfast and diploma ceremony later followed by a graduation party. Elaine has been preparing for today’s events by resting in bed more lately to just have the stamina for this full day.

I thank God that Elaine can attend her daughter’s graduation; that her husband Don is by her side to help her; that my niece will graduate and can attend college; and that my mom and I can attend today’s graduation as well.

I ask the Lord to help us see the positives amongst the multiple challenges. I ask Him to give us His eyes and heart as we embark upon lives of transition in facing Elaine’s disability. I ask Him to heal Elaine. I ask Him to use this tragedy to bring others including family members unto a close relationship with Christ. I ask Him to turn around what Satan meant for evil into a powerful witness of God getting the glory through suffering…Amen.

About Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering

Our Dark Night of the Soul: Finding Solace Through Suffering shares the true story about a sudden family tragedy. As author of the book to be published in the summer of 2014, the true account tells of my sister being rear ended by a drunk driver. She barely survives the high speed crash being left to live as a quadriplegic. Written from a brother's perspective, the manuscript shares the heartfelt story of ongoing physical and emotional pain experienced by both victim and family. Only through God's grace can a family survive such a tragedy!
